There are a variety of volunteer opportunities at Sims Middle School. As our kids enter Middle School, the volunteer needs shift from helping out in individual classrooms to more of a whole school focus.
The Volunteer Coordinator from PTO will share information about volunteer opportunities in our school as they arise.
Individual groups that your child may participate in (such as Band, SGA, etc.) may also ask for volunteer assistance as well. Please reach out to the individual sponsor with any additional questions.
Any volunteer hours should be logged into the volunteer log book located in the Helping Hands room at Sims Middle School. Volunteer hours are not exclusive to on-campus activities, but also include any time spent outside the school day related to any school activity.
At the end of the year, accumulated hours are submitted to the State to identify whether a school is a Bronze, Silver, or Gold School based upon Parental Involvement.
We are always looking for parents who speak another language to serve as interpreters for new students. If you are able and willing to serve as a translator, please contact Mrs. Colvin at email@example.com and let her know in what language you are able to interpret. She will compile a list to use if and when the need arises.
At the beginning of each year, a required Volunteer Orientation will be scheduled where volunteer policies are covered. Volunteers will receive a Volunteer Handbook. The Volunteer Orientation was scheduled on September 4th, 2018 at 9am. Thank you to all the volunteers that attended the meeting.
